Lexington MA (January 22, 2019):  On December 20, 2018 the LIHI Governing Board approved revisions to the 2nd Edition Low Impact Hydropower Institute (LIHI) Handbook (Revision 2.03).  This revision supersedes all prior revisions to the 2nd Edition Handbook.  The Handbook and updated application materials are available on our How To Apply webpage.

The LIHI bylaws require that the LIHI Certification Program be reviewed annually by the Governing Board to ensure that the organization is meeting its goals and objectives.  This annual review includes consideration of eligibility requirements, as well as criteria, application procedures, certification fees, and all other aspects of the program.  Other non-programmatic changes may also be considered from time to time as part of the Handbook annual reviews. The last time the Handbook was updated was in early 2016.

The 2018 annual review that resulted in Revision 2.03 includes only non-programmatic changes and is designed to improve LIHI Certification program documentation.  This revision adds clarity and reduces redundancy where needed; refines the language in definitions of some terms (Appendix A); and provides more detailed guidance on the application and recertification process (Sections 3, 4, 6) and the suggested format and content of applications (Appendix B).
