Dave Youlen has more than 35 years experience in hydroelectric and wind power generation, electric operations, transmission and substations with demonstrated strengths in:
- Development of hydroelectric and wind generation facilities
- Operation, maintenance and construction at hydroelectric and wind generation facilities and in addition, at electric transmission and electric substation facilities
- Asset management of generation and electric system facilities
- Technical knowledge of wind and hydroelectric power production, electric transmission and substations
Mr. Youlen also has considerable experience in federal and state level hydroelectric industry regulatory and legislative affairs including directing the national trade organization, namely the National Hydropower Association where he was president from 2006-2007. He was also a member of the board of directors of the Independent Power Producers of New York (IPPNY).
Youlen is the recipient of several key industry awards including the 2009 Dr. Kenneth Henwood Award from the National Hydropower Association – the industry’s highest honor presented to those who show great leadership and dedication to hydropower; and the 2007 Rickey Medal Award from the American Society of Civil Engineers for achievement in the field of hydroelectric engineering. In 2009, he was included on the list of the 60 most influential people worldwide in the hydro industry over the last 60 years by International Water Power & Dam Construction magazine.
He is a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a bachelor of science in civil engineering. He is a New York State licensed professional engineer. He currently is Executive Vice President Development for Eagle Creek Renewable Energy which owns and operates over 40 hydroelectric generating facilities in the USA.
