Brendan McCarthy works in state government affairs at Portland General Electric where he attempts to influence legislative and state agency policy development. In that role, he has played a major part in the development, adoption and revision of the Oregon Renewable Energy Standard. Prior to coming to PGE in 2006, he worked for 9 years in the Oregon Legislature’s Office of Legislative Counsel drafting legislation and providing advice to state legislators in the area of natural resources and environmental law, including water, hydropower and fish and wildlife. His other work experience includes local, state and federal campaign experience and legislative staff work at the state and federal levels. He holds a JD from the Northwestern School of Law of Lewis and Clark College (1996) and a BS in Business Management from Penn State (1989).
