The  Massachusetts Clean Energy Center  has announced a new grant opportunity for Massachusetts hydropower facilities that are not yet qualified for the Massachusetts Renewable Portfolio Standard (MA RPS).

The purpose of the Massachusetts RPS  Hydropower Qualification Assistance Program is to help facilities design and construct upgrades that will enable them to obtain certification from the Low Impact Hydropower Institute and MA RPS qualification.

The key eligibility criteria for this solicitation are:
The facility must located in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
The facility must have increased generating capacity since December 31, 1997
The specific upgrades and improvements necessary for the facility to qualify as either a Class I or combination Class I/Class II renewable energy generating source under the MA RPS must be clearly identified.
The total funding available under this solicitation is $11.4 million. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until December 31, 2014 or until funds are exhausted, whichever comes first.
